‘ANONYMOUS’ TAKES DOWN VATICAN Posted: 07 Mar 2012 06:53 PM PST By Joel Gehrke, The Washington Examiner Hackers from the Italian branch of the group, Anonymous, took down the Vatican website in protest over Roman Catholic liturgies and doctrines, such as the church’s opposition to contraception and abortion. “Anonymous has decided to put your site under siege in response to your doctrine, liturgy and the absurd and anachronistic rules that your profit-making organization spreads around the world,” the Anonymous website explained, per a Reuters translation. The hackers cited common complaints about the Catholics in recent years, such as the child-molesting scandal, but they also seem motivated by the recent fight over the contraception mandate and religious liberty. “You refuse to declare objects and practices [the] result of progress, such as condoms or abortion,” the Anonymous hackers wrote to the Vatican. Court Rules Police Can Search Cell Phones Without Warrant Posted: 07 Mar 2012 06:50 PM PST DALLAS – Think about all the personal information we keep in our cell phones: It's something to consider after the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit ruled it is now legal for police to search cell phones without a warrant. Former Dallas FBI Agent Danny Defenbaugh said the ruling gives law enforcement a leg up. "I think not only will it help them, but it could be life saving," said the former Special Agent, who was based in Dallas. The decision stems from an Indiana case where police arrested a man for dealing drugs. An officer searched the suspect's cell phone without warrant. The judge in the appeal case, Judge Richard Posner, agreed that the officer had to search the phone immediately or risk losing valuable evidence. Judge Posner ruled it was a matter of urgency, arguing it was possible for an accomplice to wipe the phone clean using a computer or other remote device. How to get ANYTHING through TSA nude body scanners: Blogger exposes loophole in $1billion fleet Posted: 07 Mar 2012 06:45 PM PST By LEE MORAN, MailOnline Controversial nude body scanners used at U.S. airports have come under fire again – after a blogger claimed he could easily smuggle explosives through them onto a plane. Engineer Jonathan Corbett has published a video where he shows how he took a small metal case through two of the TSA’s $1billion fleet in a special side pocket stitched into his shirt. This is because, he suggests, the scanners blend metallic areas into the dark background – so if an object is not directly placed on the body, it will not show up on the scan. The metallic box, he claims, would have set off an alarm had he passed through the old detecting system. His revelation comes just weeks after Europe banned the ‘airport strip-searches’ over fears the X-ray technology could cause cancer. MailOnline has decided not to publish the video because it details exactly how to circumvent the safety procedure – but it is freely available to watch online. Corbett, standing in his living room as he speaks to the camera in the video for his ‘TSA Out of Our Pants’ blog, acknowledges the technique could be used by terrorists. But he believes they would already know about the loophole, and took the steps to show ‘how much danger the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) is putting all us all in’. Pro-Ron Paul super PAC rethinks spending Posted: 07 Mar 2012 06:43 PM PST By DAVE LEVINTHAL | Politico.com The main super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul is reassessing its heavy financial support of the Texas congressman following his disappointing Super Tuesday performance, an official confirmed to POLITICO. "Yes, we are reassessing our efforts, but we have always felt that we are a part of a larger movement rather than just a single election," Endorse Liberty super PAC leader Abe Niederhauser said. "We will continue to support Dr. Paul, but ultimately, we support an idea. We will support candidates who uphold the principles of liberty. We may also get involved in some of the Senate and House races." If Endorse Liberty scales back funding, the move could be yet another blow to Paul, who has yet to win a single presidential primary or caucus contest. High school’s chant of ‘USA! USA!’ deemed racist Posted: 07 Mar 2012 06:41 PM PST SAN ANTONIO – A local school district is apologizing after an apparent incident of racism at a boys high school basketball game this past weekend. When the final whistle blew Saturday, Alamo Heights celebrated a convincing victory over San Antonio Edison. Alamo Heights Head Coach Andrew Brewer said he was proud of his team. “Tremendously proud," Brewer said. "Tremendously. It’s the best group of kids.” But it was just after the trophy presentation when the coach was not proud of the chant coming from Alamo Heights fans. “USA, USA, USA,” they chanted. San Antonio Independent School District officials took the chant as a racial insult to a school with all minority players from a school with mostly white ones. On the KSAT 12 Defenders Facebook page, Santos Villarreal’s post reads "this has to stop." SAISD Spokeswoman Leslie Price heard about the incident after it had happened. “This is very disrespectful to our students," Price said.
