States finding tough climate for gas tax proposals Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:25 PM PST From FOXNews.com | Associated Press ANNAPOLIS, Md. – As if gas prices weren’t high enough, several states across the U.S. are looking to raise fuel taxes they say are needed to pay for roads and bridges that are outdated, congested and in some cases, dangerous. Maryland’s governor is proposing a phased-in 6 percent sales tax by 2 percent a year, which would raise about $613 million annually when fully implemented. Iowa is considering raising its current 21-cent-per-gallon tax by either 8 cents or 10 cents. Such proposals were hard to even contemplate during the recession and its immediate aftermath. Now, states forced to grapple with the problem are running into record-high gas prices for this time of year and lingering effects of the recession. In Maryland, lawmakers are questioning whether the time is right for such an increase, which is never popular even in good fiscal times. Geithner arrested? 116 major bank resignations? What The Finance is this? Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:21 PM PST By Carl Herman, Washington’s Blog Judge Napolitano testifies of Treasury Secretary and Federal Reserve-insider Timothy Geither's arrest in this 4-minute corporate news show. American Kabuki list the daily-increasing bank resignations. David Wilcock and Benjamin Fulford explain and document history and deceit at the top of US and global finance, leading to current and imminent arrests. What does this mean? Anyone with intellectual integrity and moral courage can affirm that the Federal Reserve system is guilty of financial fraud at its core. The "emperor has no clothes" reason is they lie in omission and commission with a fiduciary responsibility: they create debt for what we use as money, charge the 99% increasing aggregate interest, and then tell us this is responsible leadership for the public good. I teach college-level economics; the facts of a debt-based "monetary system," unpayable and increasing aggregate debt, and increasing per capita interest costs is conservative textbook information. If you want to understand, I'll walk you through here. There's more to the charge of financial fraud at the top of US economic and financial policy, of course. I recommend the documentation of Matt Taibbi and David DeGraw to dive-into details of the crimes, and Ellen Brown and American Monetary Institute to explore solutions. Documents Reveal Rockefeller Foundation Actively Engaged in Mass Mind-Control Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:17 PM PST By Jurriaan Maessen, Infowars.com From archive material from the 1940s onward, it has become apparent that the Rockefeller Foundation has for decades now fanatically nurtured research into fear-inducing brainwashing techniques for the masses. In a series of generous grants in the 1940s- and 50s, extended to Professor Carl I. Hovland of Yale University, the Foundation actively funded research into "the psychological mechanisms through which communications exert their influence." Main research subject deals with the question of "how the individual deals with the welter of conflicting ideas with which he is constantly bombarded; how “wishful thinking” and emotional bias affect judgment; and whether the judgment process is transferred from one situation to another are among the problems to be studied", we read in the 1954 Rockefeller yearly report. Hovland, besides conducting research into behavioral and attitude-changes of groups, was also part of the Rockefeller Foundation's social science staff. In addition to that, the professor was heavily involved in other branches of the Anglo-American establishment. In the study Origins of mass communications research during the American cold war by Timothy Glander, the author explains: "(…) Hovland held key positions on several major national boards, including the Air Force's Human Resources Research Institute, the Ford Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, the Office of Chief of Staff of the U.S. Air Force, and he doubtlessly had input in determining the research agendas that these organizations pursued." Obama Re-Election Credited With Burst of Gun Sales Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:12 PM PST Gun sales are booming across Texas, and some buyers say their growing belief that President Barack Obama’s re-election is inevitable is fueling their race to bear more arms. So brisk have sales been that the rush has created a nationwide shortage of firearms and ammunition, the Star-Telegram reports. Fort Worth gun shop owner DeWayne Irwin said the rush is similar to one seen shortly after the president’s 2008 election. Alan Korwin, author of nine books on gun laws and operator of a gun laws website, tells the Star-Telegram that some are worried that Obama’s re-election would embolden a major gun control push. Holder: U.S. can lawfully target American citizens Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:10 PM PST
The U.S. government has the right to order the killing of American citizens overseas if they are senior al-Qaeda leaders who pose an imminent terrorist threat and cannot reasonably be captured, Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. said Monday. "Any decision to use lethal force against a United States citizen — even one intent on murdering Americans and who has become an operational leader of al-Qaeda in a foreign land – is among the gravest that government leaders can face," Holder said in a speech at Northwestern University's law school in Chicago. "The American people can be — and deserve to be — assured that actions taken in their defense are consistent with their values and their laws." D.C. pays almost $700k for dead patients’ health care Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:07 PM PST The District shelled out nearly $700,000 in Medicaid payments for dead people, with one payment occurring nearly nine years after the patient died, a new audit has found. The gaffes are part of nearly $4 million in erroneous payments made by the city’s Department of Health Care Finance in 2009, most of which are payments for claims with an invalid or no Social Security number at all. In addition, the Office of the Inspector General audit said the department might have overpaid its billings by $22.6 million, a possibility that health officials are now looking into. Of the $662,934 paid for services rendered after the patient died, three claims were for an average of about $96,000 and one of those was paid eight years and 10 months years after the resident’s death, the audit found. The department is responsible for getting that money back from the health care providers who filed the claims for dead people. In addition, D.C. may be on the hook for any federal money it used to make the payments. Tea party not settled on any one candidate Posted: 05 Mar 2012 02:02 PM PST By Janet DiGiacomo, CNN Ask different tea party volunteers in the days before Super Tuesday who the leading presidential candidate is and you will get different answers. Rick Santorum has a lot of support in our unscientific polls, said Mark West of the Chattanooga, Tennessee, Tea Party. Ron Paul is closest to our core values, said Michael Wilson of the Cincinnati, Ohio, chapter The difference of opinion only proves what tea party volunteers say about the movement as a whole: Its followers are diverse in terms of conservative values and their own beliefs, which according to the various chapter leaders explains why no candidate is separating himself from the pack for the movement’s support. Ron Paul: ‘Supporting Santorum means rejecting the Tea Party’ Posted: 05 Mar 2012 01:58 PM PST
The ideological differences between Republican presidential candidates Rick Santorum and Ron Paul are coming to a head. The Blaze wrote about the philosophical tension between the two candidates as far back as October, and throughout the campaign as both early dark horse candidates have managed to stay standing their attacks at one another have swelled. The two candidates have clashed during debates, accused the other of indulging in "conspiracy theories," and now marred the other with what may be the worst insult possible among 2012 conservatives: rejecting the Tea Party. Ron Paul's campaign website published a striking post Monday titled "Supporting Santorum Means Rejecting the Tea Party."
