Firearm Sales Way Up During Holiday Season Posted: 14 Dec 2011 03:21 PM PST
ROCKLIN — If you've pulled the trigger on a new firearm this holiday season, join the club. As in your neighborhood shooting club, because faster than a speeding bullet, guns are going out the door. Well, not right away, of course — there is that 10-day waiting period, 11 here at TDS Guns in Rocklin, where Bob Norgard wasn't caught off-guard. He's making his purchase today so he'll have his firearm under the Christmas tree as he joins a growing number of people who say they're simply "doing what they need to do to protect themselves and their family." This surge in gun sales — the best holiday sales season in three years, according to the Firearms Dealers Association — got a shot in the arm on Black Friday. Tea Partiers Reject Beck’s Claim That Support of Gingrich Is Racial Posted: 14 Dec 2011 03:16 PM PST
Glenn Beck is catching heat from the Tea Party movement that he helped champion — and helped champion him — after suggesting Tea Partiers who support Newt Gingrich over President Obama would do so only because Gingrich is white. The former Fox News host made the comments in an interview over the weekend on Fox Business Network. Beck, after calling Gingrich a “progressive” and the “only candidate” in the Republican presidential race he could not vote for, issued what he described as a “challenge” to the Tea Party base — which in large part has flocked to the former speaker’s candidacy. “This man is a progressive,” Beck said. “So if you’ve got a big government progressive … in Obama — one in Newt Gingrich, one in Obama — ask yourself this, Tea Party. Is it about Obama’s race?” Judge Andrew Napolitano, host of the FBN show, questioned Beck on the argument. “It must be about race,” Beck responded. “I mean, what else is it? … It’s the policies that matter.” To read more, visit: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/12/14/tea-partiers-to-beck-race-claim-for-gingrich-support-is-off-charts/ |
Christine O’Donnell endorses Mitt Romney Posted: 14 Dec 2011 01:54 PM PST By Tracy Jan, Globe Staff DES MOINES — Tea Party favorite and unsuccessful Delaware Senate candidate Christine O'Donnell endorsed Mitt Romney for president yesterday, a rather surprising coup that the Romney camp hopes will bolster the former Massachusetts governor's credibility with the Tea Party going into the Jan. 3 Iowa caucuses. Explaining her pick, O'Donnell said, according to a Romney press release, "For me, this endorsement comes down to trust. I am endorsing Governor Romney because I trust him to do the right thing. "He has the strength of conviction to do the right thing regardless of opposition. America needs a president who is not a Washington Insider. America needs a president who hasn't been playing the game for the last three decades. America needs a president who can turn our economy around, put Americans back to work, and will lead with stability, integrity and the values that we hold dear." In an interview with CNN, she indicated that Romney's changes in positions on issues did not bother her. "That's one of the things that I like about him — because he's been consistent since he changed his mind," O'Donnell said.
