The Time is Now!

Posted: 28 Feb 2009 04:01 AM PST

If one thing is clear from the decades of reckless spending and the bipartisan destruction of our Constitution, it is that Washington D.C. cannot be the pilots of our economy, and cannot be entrusted with our future. Bailouts and stimulus packages rob responsible savers, promote recklessness, and stifle productivity. Fear mongering has become a tool [...]

Posted: 25 Feb 2009 10:30 PM PST

Within two days of launching this site, thousands of patriots poured out their frustrations, concerns, passion, and hearts. We are still getting through the responses. From these e-mails, one thing is certain: the cause of freedom is filled with hard-working, wise, and articulate men and women who understand the problems we face [...]

Obama’s Address to the “Nation” | Plain and Candid

Posted: 24 Feb 2009 11:55 PM PST

In his speech last night, the President was moderate, measured and non-confrontational; cold water for dissenters. Yet, elements of the speech implied serious economic implications, including veiled notes of centralization, recklessness and fear.

The President was honest enough to “speak plainly and candidly” to Americans: “You see, the flow of credit is the lifeblood of our economy.”

The line was naked honesty about the President’s philosophy; a belief in quantity over quality.

What the President ought to have said is that the assets, business models and other intangible factors that make people creditable are the lifeblood of the economy. Without this key distinction, one comes away from the President’s line with a very real misunderstanding of value.

Now, to his credit, the President did acknowledge that: “With so much debt and so little confidence…banks are now fearful of lending out any more money to households, to businesses, or to each other.”

He continued…

“We are creating a new lending fund that represents the largest effort ever to help provide auto loans, college loans, and small business loans to the consumers and entrepreneurs who keep this economy running.”

What he didn't address is: How is a centralized government going to determine which entrepreneurial ventures will actually keep the economy running? Where is all this money for this new lending fund going to come from?

Considering the Government's track record of determining who deserves loans, should we trust their judgment? If printing money wasn't good for Germany, why would it be good for us?

He continues, "I say this not to lay blame or look backwards, but because it is only by understanding how we arrived at this moment that we’ll be able to lift ourselves out of this predicament."

George Santayana put it best, "Those who ignore history, are condemned to repeat it."

Mr. President, please don't ask us to ignore decades of reckless spending. Please don't conflate opposition with misunderstanding. And please, don't pretend that the American people are helpless , without government programs

Peter Schiff, Santelli: Online Superstars

Posted: 23 Feb 2009 11:49 AM PST

Capitalists Rick Santelli and Peter Schiff are striking a chord. From the Business Insider:

Pirated versions of “The Rant” were watched over 400,000 times on YouTube in just 30 hours after Santelli went on his tirade, according to video analytics service TubeMogul. We’re guessing the number could easily have doubled through the weekend. And though Drudge had it as his red-letter headline for much of Thursday, all that traffic was sent to CNBC.com, so that’s potentially hundreds of thousands more who saw the official version.

Elsewhere the fed-up crowd raised $20,000 to urge Peter Schiff to run for Senate in Connecting in 2010 against Chris Dodd. Schiff hasn’t said he’ll run, and he’d be a pretty big longshot if he did.

But between Santelli and Schiff, who already had a cult following online, we can start to see the outlines of an angry opposition.

The 10th Friendly Reminder

Posted: 23 Feb 2009 01:13 AM PST

Thomas Jefferson described the Tenth Amendment as "the foundation of the Constitution" and added, "to take a single step beyond the boundaries thus specially drawn … is to take possession of a boundless field of power, no longer susceptible of any definition."

Pursuant to the Tenth Amendment, the government of the United States has the power to regulate only matters delegated to it by the Constitution.

Yet, the Constitution says nothing about saving corrupt businesses "in the event they are too big to fail." Nowhere does it say, government should pay for mortgages "if too many people are irresponsible." And nowhere in the Constitution, can it be read, that private banks can use the American people as collateral.

ENOUGH!

In honor of the 10th Amendment, we Americans can send our representatives in every level of government a simple reminder on March 10th by simply sending the following e-mail:

Dear Representative [NAME]

This is a friendly reminder that I still believe in the 10th Amendment. Please represent me.

Thank you,
[NAME]

Or, if you have really had ENOUGH, personalize your message.

Please pledge support for the 10th amendment at Reteaparty.com.

Peter Schiff Explains Capitalism to CNN

Posted: 22 Feb 2009 06:19 AM PST

Peter Schiff puts a smackdown on CNN WorldWide:

“You think bureaucrats in Washington know what kind of cars Americans want to buy? Socialism doesn’t work. Centralized government planning doesn’t work.”

“Our economy is in trouble because we are suffering the consequences of too much government.”
